World Warriors – End of Round 2

It took a while, but we’ve finally reached the end of this chapter – which, granted, is still just part 2 of the ongoing World Warriors tournament arc. Clearly there are a lot of questions left to answer! Questions we will get to at a later date.

This turned out to be the longest Badnix story to date by a pretty decent margin! I generally like to keep these chapters pretty lean to keep the pacing brisk and avoid getting burned out working on them. This one very nearly got broken into multiple parts, but I worried it would utterly destroy the momentum of what I was going for. I’m really glad I made the choice I did – it’s given me a lot to think about with regards to writing & pacing the comic in the future.

Having said that, I am SUPER burned out from having kept this one chapter going since November (!), and I am in no way ready to launch into the next chapter yet. I’ll probably need to take a bit of a break, or at least resort to some filler comics before starting the next Big Storyline. I’ll be posting something here, anyway! Keep checkin’ back.

Good work. Can’t wait for the next chapter, but we understand how draining this can be!
That being said….hurry up. Too many questions we need answered!

Know who else was burned out? Rivalia. >_>

So it’s going to be time to switch back to Rog for a bit and/or random filler/recap/exposition posts from channel64 rambus? Perhaps a random jab at the current ((Marvel movie title)) craze?

This kinda pacing reminds me of Gisèle Lagacé — you can read their Wikipedia page, but in short, they also went into webcomics in 2000 and in 2008, their web of comics grew as she worked with other writers and artists sharing duties. But her world had too many characters (who were interesting enough to get their own spinoffs) and the team had to be broken up to tackle each series individually.

I guess the moral of that paragraph is to be less interesting.

But also, since your strips are full comic pages, maybe update less often. Series like the Specialists and Weapon Brown (which also utilize detailed full-page tales) update once a week.

Granted, “less stuff” is going to be jarring, but also, don’t burn out. This strip isn’t a full time thing (yet — Jeph Jacques had to be forced to use Patreon, Rich Burlew and Rob Balder sell merchandise (also also update sporadically), Christopher Hastings did webcomics to practice his day job of actual comics, Sean Linsday had a team of artists working with them…

I guess the other moral is, if you’re going to be interesting, have lots of friends.

I should look at that pickle again.
